Artist Talk
Remote Sensing Emergent Worlds
Happy to invite you all to "Remote Sensing Emergent Worlds", an art talk with Patrick Nii Okanta Ankrah, hosted by the Foundation for Contemporary Art - Ghana. The art talk forms a part of the programming for my solo exhibition "Worlds within Worlds" which wrapped earlier this month on the 14th of September.

“Remote Sensing Emergent Worlds” explores the intersections of art, science, and technology through the conceptual lens of "remote sensing." Using this frame — with its histories and technologies of observing and translating distant and immediate emergent worlds — our panel of experts in satellite imaging, geology, food science, writing, and cartography will dive into how real, imagined, and emergent worlds are captured, mapped, and understood across varied disciplines.
Their conversation will draw parallels between the techniques used to interpret planetary data and those Thompson employs in her work to uncover the unseen worlds within her foodscapes, and expose us to the power of mapping, visualizing, and creating new terrains of knowledge that challenge the boundaries between fiction and reality.

Looking forward to insightful conversations and being joined by Daniel P. Huffman (Cartographer), Rauda A. Addae (Geologist), Tomaž Rodič (Satellite Engineer), Bernard O. Torgbor (Writer) and Anthony A. Mensah (Food Chemist).
